WOYWW 608

Hi Hi!

Happy Wednesday! One of the things I’ve learned about myself in the past year, is how important anchors are. Nataly Kogan, a happiness author and self help guru, actually does a talk on anchors and how important they are for good mental health, especially in times of crisis. One such anchor for me was and now again, is, What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It also does double duty of reminding me which blooming day it is, because no matter how many planners a girl has, lockdown-time-loss-awareness is real.

So here’s my desk today. I’m working on my One Little Word project, which I’ll come back to shortly, but that’s what you can see at the front. The little blue trays with my stash for this project live on one of my… ahem… expanding collection of trollies. I may have to seek help… The tablet is showing some of the OLW class and the lap top is basically charging my smart watch and ear phones for my daily walks. You can also see my swanky new water bottle to the right. The spotty box contains a random assortment of foam shapes meant for children’s crafting but I use them instead of foam squares. Julia mentioned removing the foam squares from the sheet in a particular way on her blog this week and I wondered if she might twitch if she saw the backs of my photos on my scrapbook pages, covered in bright crabs and spacemen etc.

This is my OLW trolley with one of the stadium desk tidy doo dah’s from Ikea in it. It means I can switch it out for another project quite easily and worked well for my Christmas journal. For those who don’t know, OLW is a yearly, year long class by Ali Edwards. I think the idea of having a word that helps guide you through the year is older than the class (which is in it’s 10th year) and I have tried to do it without but it had such a huge impact on me last year that I sucked up the price increase and went with it again. This year my word is ACTION, and one of those actions is paying attention to the things that work, like my anchors, and actually doing them. So here we are!

I’m also continuing on the sorting front, this time my Bramble Fox collection… ahem… again, I fear I may need help. I managed to get all of them nicely sorted, and noted (because… type 1), and gathered them in the bottom 4 boxes. Then I also sorted my enamel dots and put them in the top two drawers. Me likey.

If you want to feel better about the state of your desk, have a snoop at other crafters work areas, or be enabled by new things they can introduce you to, please head over to Julia’s Stamping Ground to join in.

In the meantime, stay safe and keep smiling. x

Lovely colours! I have always been tempted by OLW but to add it to the 10 classes I already have queued up seems madness, and I never manage to prep for it at the actual beginning of the year so it will slide past me in 2021 once again. You look like you are making a good start to enjoy!

    Happy WOYWW

love how you have lots of boxes and trays and sorting thingys. Love the colour combo you have chosen for the one word project – a whole YEAR! gosh. Happy sorting, I’m pondering sorting my 12×12 sheets but will finish scrapping 2019 first. BJ#11

Well done, Lisa, on the sorting front, I certainly could do with that at the moment it looks like a bombs hit but to be honest too hot in that room so won’t be done yet awhile except bare essentials!
Thanks for sharing, and God bless, Shaz in Oz.x

I think having WOYWW has helped us all through the last year….It’s certainly my favourite day of the week.

A very mindful post – if it wasn’t for my crafting and WOYWW I think I would have come adrift by now! I’ve also had a lightbulb moment reading your post – I already buy sheets of funky foam and use to raise elements on my cards, but I have a ton of pre-cut pieces from when I did kids classes that are just taking up space. A use for them at last!! Happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, Cindyxx #8

Lisa-Jane!! Wahoo, it’s so fab to see you on the desks again xxxx. I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts on Action and having WOYWW as an anchor, good knows its helped me through the past year – the support, friendship and day location (who knew Wednesdays could be so useful!) have helped through such a tricky time. Love seeing all the bits and pieces and WIPs on your desks – what really struck me was the pretty happy colours. Keep it going, gal!

I so agree with you about WOYWW being an anchor, day reminder, friend updater, it really is so valuable.
Love the colours of your containers, so cheerful without shouting it.
    Have a good week

Great tidying and organisation Lisa-Jane. I have three of those trollies in black plus a smaller one which sits under my desk so I don’t htink you can have too many lol. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

Terrific tid bits of happiness I see. I like your colorful storage and the word you chose this year. Action is definitely a move in the right direction ~ which reminds me…I need to get up and go for a walk before the day gets away from me! Enjoy your week ~ Love, Karen#32

I agree with you about WOYWW being an anchor. Though I know no one personally I find it comforting. Great containers. I need to do a purge again…. someday.
Thanks for popping by and stay healthy!

Well, I am, of course, jealous of your amazing organization!! How wonderful that you can change out things depending on your projects! But then we are talking about IKEA and they pretty much do everything with intent! LOL That being said, I may have to check into that for my trolley! I admire folks who do the style of journaling that you have shown. I don’t collage very well, so that’s why I never go into scrapping either! Yours is so pretty! I love all your papers as well! Stay safe and healthy. Happy Wednesday. Felicia #28

It looks as if you’ve got a nice lot going on there, Lisa-Jane, and I love all your little trays and boxes! So pretty, and so beautifully organised. You’ve got some great papers too. A really cheerful, colourful post – well done indeedy!

    Happy WOYWW,

Love the colours for your project and your way of organising things. I follow Ali on instagram and have thought about OLW but decided I simply don’t have the time to join in. You were asking about my printing – I print on a standard A4 printer onto parcel stickers (ones that are A4 in size) and re-size my photos to whatever I need on the computer, I then just cut them out and stick them in. It takes a bit of effort to organise but I am pleased with the result. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe, with love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#14)

I’m playing catch up today as I normally visit desks in my lunch break, but didn’t get one today! I am very envious that you have been to one of Dina’s classes, from what I see on you tube they’d be fabulous! \looking at your great desk I can imagine you found it a bit out of your comfort zone but that’s good for us! I think the sorting thing must be international for Crafters and others alike and the good thing is all the stuff you find that you had forgotten about. Have fun. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x18x

Happy WOYWW. I love organisation and all the gorgeous colours/designs. I stupidly sold 2 of my trolleys last year when I had a big sale in my craft room. The lady really wanted them, and the cash came in useful. I do want one for my scrapbooking stash, and put a trolley in my Amazon wish list. I haven’t signed up for any year long classes this year, but got shorter courses to go through – some for my designing ‘business’ and others for personal crafting. I have a scrapbooking kit arriving soon – with videos to help get 6 layouts made. I definitely need some help to get scrapping again. Ali x. #26

Action is an excellent word for the year! My word seems to be something like hygge. I want everything comfortable. Not a lot of action for me LOL! Your storage pieces are great, and I’m sure Julia would be just fine with your foam bits! Have fun sorting (one of my fav things to do!) Thanks for your visit, Lindart #34

I like how everything on your desk is colour coordinated – the aqua is so pretty. I have three trolleys, one for sewing paraphernalia and two for crafting stuff – and I’m still considering buying another. OLW sounds a good idea but I know myself, I’d find it difficult to follow for a full year. Have a great crafty week. Elizabeth x 30

Hi Lisa-Jane, hehe I know what you mean about not knowing what day it is – for me it’s a double whammy with retirement as well, but on the plus side it doesn’t reallly matter any more I guess! The OLW looks fun and I love the look of your project so far and all the gorgeous supplies ready to go. Also dribbling a bit over your BF collection and the cute storage drawers – it’s like a sweetieshop without he calories :O) Have a great week Annie C #27

Sorry about the late visit, and thank you for your comment, you are like me, I keep sorting out and then do it again but still seem o have lots of things I do not need lol

    Must be a craft thing

Hi Lisa-Jane, I think we are all in agreement that WOYWW has brought enormous benefit to us during the last year. I loved your post- might have to seek help about the trolleys and your Bramble Fox collection. Great idea on the foam shapes too – although I don’t use foam pads myself that much. I love all the colour on your post. I think your OLW project is similar to my mission to complete one junk journal page per day – discipline and motivation for me, and make sure I do something besides work each day! I haven’t finished each page every day, but I have started it, and caught up at weekend if needed. Love your little drawers, I have some similar that I decorated- I think I like organising and storage as much as I like crafting lol. Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx #21

  22. Shoshi on 28 January 2021 at 6:36 pm

Thanks for your return visit, Lisa-Jane. I’m glad you are enjoying the progress of the kitty throw. It’s a really fun project to do.

    Have a great week,

  23. Stacy on 28 January 2021 at 7:49 pm

I love the trays you are using to corral the bits and pieces, I have never done OLW because, I know my self I would not stick it out for a whole year, I buy the Dec Daily kits some years and most of the time just play with the bits and pieces and do not have completed albums to show for it. So, I am totally impressed that you are doing a year one. ( and I love how it looks on the cart too) ~Stacy #33

  24. Angela on 28 January 2021 at 9:21 pm

Well you look organised! I would have another trolley or two, if I had space for them. I quite fancy one to take in the lounge when am doing crafting in the evening. Might help me more tidy too. My Word of the year is “Focus”, but so far it’s acting more of a reminder than anything else. Have a great week Angela #15

  25. Spyder on 30 January 2021 at 2:33 pm

Well,I think you’re well organised. I like the trolly inner storage, haven’t come across one of those yet, but then, I don’t go out! I too have two trollies, but they aren’t in my craft room as there’s no room! One’s in the airing cupboard with over flow bathroom stuff, plus the hair drier and the iron. The other acts as a tall table for a lamp, small pictures and mags. But as soon as there’s space in the craft room I’m nabbing them back! Again, I’m late, but have a great crafting week, Stay Safe. Happy WOYWW?! ((Lyn))#16

  26. Kyla on 30 January 2021 at 3:08 pm

ooh yes anchors are so important, craft, walking/nature, allotment and music for me. totally agree about WOYWW, it is the main reason I know what day of the week it is!!

Thanks for visiting my desk already

Love the colours you are using in your OLW book.
    Excellent sorting too.
Happy WOYWW – sorry I am so late visiting!

Putting in a very late appearance this week, but wanted to stop by and say “Hi, thanks for visiting!”

Certainly plenty of “action” on your desk area this week. I love the stadium doodad – I have one trolley and the top is where I store my sewing machine, otherwise it would take up space on a desk, or sit on the floor, and neither is ideal!
