Cheers to a New Year

Hi hi!

Another layout, another challenge! I’m honestly having so much fun being able to take part in whatever challenges I want. This was actually a combo challenge which is something I’ve done a fair amount of recently.

The initial prompt here from the January Go Go cyber crop was to use a stencil in some way. Once I’d found the right stencil and photographs that I wanted to use I started looking for a scrap lift to base my layout on. My first port of call is generally the Scrap Squad group on Facebook if I’m working this way around. I love using sketches and scrap lifts anyway but if I can combine two challenges together then it makes me even more happy. It doesn’t take the thought process away totally at all but it makes things a little bit easier. And I need easier right now!

I was inspired by Laura Rumble’s recent white on white snowflake layout for Scrap Academy so I chose a scraplift where I could stencil subtle circular elements using texture paste. It was a bit of a faff because I don’t know of any easy way to repeat stencil without waiting for the first lot to dry, or, without smudging and having to work around the first layer! With hindsight I would have stencilled another clock towards the top right of the photos.

I used a couple of branding strips and thin scraps for this one which worked well as I don’t have any full page pieces in my Christmas kit (mostly Pebbles Merry Little Christmas). The Cheers to a New Year title is a Perspextive from Bramble Fox, which for us as non drinkers meant cheering that 2020 is finished (although let’s not talk about how 2021 is going so far…) and cheering for our lovely celebratory dinner of Wagu beef. Oh my goodness I need to find another good reason to order one of these – lush!

I hope you’re all staying safe and that you keep smiling 🙂
