WOYWW 624 – The anniversary edition

Hi hi!

What an incredible achievement Julia has reached with 12 years of desk sharing?! I’m sure she never thought it would turn out like it has when she first started in 2008!

For the first time since I started back, I didn’t manage to get around all the desks last week, I’m so sorry. I went out for a coffee with a friend in the afternoon and stood up to come home and almost keeled over. I’ve been suffering some strange stuff ever since but basically it feels like I’m on a boat! So yes, I would love to swap ATCs with you (just ping me an e-mail via the contact form) but I can’t promise it will go out before the weekend! Having never made one before, I am starting from scratch at some point today (Wednesday) but I have another funeral on Thursday and my head is still swimming so I don’t know what form they will take!

And so, to my desk, working from the left – the finished piece of stitched paper ready for the layout, a print off of the Distress Oxide colour chart so I could choose some new colours to purchase, ‘puter for ordering said Oxides, little pots of gorgeous Shimmerz goodness to see what new colours of those I am going to purchase. I know, I know, stash diet. But in my defence, I won a voucher for the Shimmerz as part of iNSD. The Oxides you ask? Um… And so moving on to the rest of my desk – some paperwork for a therapy course and a package from Cheeky Wipes. Best purchase I ever made but nothing to do with crafting. Period pants. There I said it. Nothing to be ashamed of, especially if I can enable others (if you want a code for 15% off, give me a shout) and make other ladies feel as comfortable.

Oh, I forgot my ‘onion’ as Doug calls it, top left – it’s a diffuser!

So, congratulations Julia! And thank you from me (and I assume so many others) for giving us this space – to find friendships, stash, techniques, chat, a weekly placeholder, and oh so much more. If you want to join in, it’s not too late, we’re here every week. For now, I’m going to lay down again but I’ll be around soon so stick the kettle on!

I really hope that you feel better soon Lisa-Jane. That swimmy feeling really is horrible and sometimes you just need to lie down and rest. Ground Espresso, Old Paper and Tea Dye make a great masculine combination in Distress Oxides. Well done on winning the voucher. Stay safe and happy 12th anniversary WOYWW. Sarah #9

I believe this may be my first time visiting your blog. Sorry to read you are not well. I am sure you will do fine with your first ATC. I really like those little pots of shimmer. Lucky you to have a voucher to buy new stash. Happy 12th anniversary from # 10.

Hi Lisa-Jane, it sounds as if you have labyrinthitis, dizziness is a horrid thing, hope you are better soon.
Another desk, like mine, with a lot on it and no specific project happening, I’m sure your ATCs will change that.
    Bless you for sharing

When you resurface and stop swimming about please send me your address so that I can send my ATC to you as you are my Pif. That is if you are ok with receiving one from me (details of why I ask and what I will do to safeguard mail is on my blog). In the meantime get yourself truly better.
You need a clear head to order those Shimmerz,, well done you !
    Hugs, Neet x

goodness me! I do hope you stop swimming soon (although if the alternative is drowning, well…. :D) My Dad gets vertigo so maybe that? An inner ear thing? Who knows! Anyway, lovely luck winning a voucher and look forward to seeing all the ATC reveals. Not sure if I have one left to trade but once I assess I’ll pop back and say.

Happy 12th Anniversary to all my desk-hopping mates!

It sounds like you have Vertigo pr BPPV which I get, it comes out of nowhere and knocks me for six. There are exercises that help me, Brandt-Doroff and the Epley Manouevre. You can google all this, I won’t go into details here….but I feel your pain sister, I’ve had a bad bout this weekend and am putting it down to blocked sinuses affecting all me tubes….ooo-er missus! Hope you feel better soon.
Loved the onion, I’ve never noticed that before! And the colour chart is a thing of beauty, I really could live with that on the wall, patterns float my boat.
Thanks for all the desky nonsense L-J, you make me hoot with your observations on life etc, I love the any you write!
    Hugs LLJ 3 xxx

Enjoy making your ATC’s and I hope you feel better soon – it sounds pretty ghastly. I love the ‘onion’, there’s something beautiful and tactile about that shape.
    Happy 12th Anniversary,

I hope you feel better soon Lisa-Jane! I’ve sent you an ATC but please don’t feel you have to send one back if you’re unwell. It sounds awful – I’d better not think about it otherwise I’ll start manifesting the same symptoms LOL! Happy anniversary! xx zsuzsa #17

  12. Carolyn Staton on 19 May 2021 at 9:16 am

Oh I hate that swimmy vertigo feeling… I get it when I am run down and feel horribly dizzy until I get some sleep. It could be labyrinthitis which is quite nasty – worth going to the GP and getting checked out. Love the little pots on your desk. Happy WOYWW Anniversary. Take care and stay safe, I hope you feel better soon. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#15)

  13. Cindy Ashplant on 19 May 2021 at 11:22 am

Oooh, sounds like a touch of vertigo. Travel/Seasickness tablets may help but do go to GP if it continues. It is weird how much it disorientates you – I had a buzzy ear yesterday and it drove me mad, everything felt off. Seems OK today, something must have shifted in the night! I am doing quite well with my stash diet, the amount of stash I already have is seriously bothering me so I have found it quite easy to be good, that won’t last once I start creating again LOL. Period pants? Well that’s one bit of enabling I can pass on as that ship has sailed. Happy Anniversary!! have a good week, love n hugs, Cindy xx

    Happy Anniversary!
I now don’t feel quite so bad when I think of the things I have NEEDed to buy this weekend!
Hope you will be feeling better soon and I can’t wait to see what your ATCs turn out like…

    Happy Woyww!

Happy 12th Anniversary WOYWW. Sorry to hear you are having the horrible dizziness. I can get that occasionally (part of Fibromyalgia) and had a horrible bout for a few days last month (which then meant I had to have another COVID test, as that symptom can be a ‘sign’). Definitely check with your doctor. I love that colour chart. Many years ago I was collecting all the Distress Inkpads, but sold a lot when I had my big craft room clear out (just wasn’t using them). I kept a few that I do actually use – and treated myself to a new one recently. However, most of my crafting is digital, and I am still de-stashing (amazing how I keep finding stash that I have never used). Ali x #34

Hi Lisa Jane. I have just realized you sent e an email a couple of days ago – and I haven’t replied yet – sorry!!! Will endeavour to get my head into gear! I’m so sorry you still feel so rough – I do trust it passes soon, and you feel safer being vertical… I love that double row of little pots there on your desk – they just look sweet sitting there. Hope you get to use them – and…erm… the ones you haven’t bought yet. (Sshh – your secret is safe with me!)
    Take care. God bless.

Hope you soon feel better – so many weird things around to try us these days! Take care and rest up if you are feeling dizzy. Jan’s advice sounds good. Happy 12th anniversary! Annie and I have just had a coffee to celebrate and sort our ATCs to post. xx Jo

Hi again Lisa-Jane – just popping back about the tracing paper. It was this one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0029MUOG2/ Really good quality and value – the only thing you have to be mindful of when using an inkjet printer is that the ink might pool in places, so it’s best to choose lighter images that require less ink and make sure you don’t touch it until the ink dries. Otherwise, you can put it through the printer just fine as it is thick enough to go through unaided just at the standard settings. (I haven’t tried it on a laser jet though – my husband’s very touchy about his work printer, so I tend not to play with it LOL!) Also, you can’t use any wet glue with the tracing paper as it wrinkles, which is why I used my sticker maker, but I seem to have got good results with a simple glue stick as well. It’s worth trying as the results are wonderful – you can practically make your own washi stickers this way! Have fun playing xx

Oh dear, I do hope things start to get steady for you. It’s awful to feel that sea wave motion. I sent you my address about 12 days ago, but only send me one if you feel okay, nothing worse than than trying to create when under par. Happy WOYWW Angela #23

If you’d haven’t got BBPV or an inner ear infection I’ll eat my hat. Cut along to the drs missus, you don’t have to live with the boat feeling, it’s hideous. That distress oxides chart is alarming, gosh, I’ve got a lot to go…for once I feel abstemious and virtuous. Ha! We love you WOYWW presence, your writing is wonderful. No pressure, but keep it up!

There’s always something pretty and colourful on your desk, Lisa-Jane, and this week’s no exception, with the gorgeous distress oxides colour chart. Lovely stash to play with! Thank you for both your comments – last week’s and this, and I’m sorry to hear you’ve been poorly and hope you are fully recovered by now. Thank you for your good wishes for my appointment next Monday. So glad you like the finished kitty throw! Funnily enough, the fluffy little white kitties (there are more than one) are my favourites too! I had a little scrap of that textured white yarn in my stash and thought I’d use it up making little fluffy kitties! I had so much fun making this project, and I’m happy to report that my hubby is absolutely thrilled to bits with it!

    Happy WOYWW,

All the best Lisa-jane – thanks for popping by my space – I am so far still not getting any crafty stuff done – but its nice to see others are. See you at next WOYWW Cheers Maurs xxx #26

  28. Debbie Rock on 20 May 2021 at 11:16 am

Hiya Lisa-Jane … thanks for popping by my blog yesterday! I can explain about the spanners … because of my tummy troubles it is difficult to sit comfortably at the table so I use the board with my mat placed on top and pull it forward off the edge of the table … but, of course, if I lean on it I end up with everything all over me! So the spanners are a counter-balance. They were daddy’s and I kept them after he died – i can’t even lift the big one and i always intended to art up the smaller one but have found I like them sitting there like they do and it means daddy is always with me.
Sorry to hear you have been feeling poorly – i had a funny turn yesterday and have felt most odd but not the horrible swimmy feeling you have … i do hope you feel better soon. Love Debbie 14 xXx

  29. Morti on 20 May 2021 at 2:11 pm

Oooh nasty – as others have said, possibly Labyrinthitis. First time I had it, I was violently sick – which made me sick again, cos of bending over. Dr just prescribed bed rest till it went away…. huh.

I am going to ignore all the lovely goodness on your desk and pretend I haven’t seen it. I’ve so far resisted the urge to buy distress oxides and I’m not even going to look up Shimmerz. Nope nope nope. Not till I’m crafting properly again – the stitching doesn’t count.

    Happy WOYWW 624

Lisa-Jane, sounds like vertigo??? I’ve never had it, but I hear it’s not fun! That’s, of course, NOT a diagnosis, just wondering?? At any rate, I sure do hope you get to feeling better soon! Don’t let it go, have it seen about for sure! I love your husband’s “onion” comment! I LOVE my diffuser(s), I have many!! Even one at work on my desk!! I am a huge essential oil lover and I really believe in their therapy!! I’m eyeing those pots of Shimmerz! I love them, they are so yummy! I have put myself on a “no buy” diet, so I’m not even looking…no sir!! LOLOL Enjoy crafting those first ATC’s! They really are fun and since the geographics are scant, I believe, it makes it not so intimidating!! But for some, that’s what makes it intimidating! LOL It’s all fun, so just own it! Thaks for stopping by my desk with your comments! Yes, my nieces dress was GORGE, as was she! Oh to be young again….although I NEVER looked like that! LOL Happy 12th and blessings to you! 🙂

Hi Lisa Jane, happy 12th Anniversary and good luck with the ATCs. I made my first ATCs for the 9th Anniversary and found it a bit daunting at the time, but they turned out OK in the end. Sorry to hear you are not feeling well, hope you recover soon! I love the pots on your desk, so cute. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #20

  32. kyla on 23 May 2021 at 3:32 pm

ooh yes as others have mentioned maybe inner ear infection or vertigo, not great a work colleague gets that and it seems to come from no where at times, but like LLJ mentions there are some great resources on line. Hope your week improved and thanks for visiting my desk this week (love the “onion” hadnt noticed it before!).

HI Lisa-Jane! Happy 12th Anniversary! Sorry I’m so late, the days just get away from me somehow. Thank you for your visit to mine, and for all the congrats about the new Grandbaby. She is so cute, and already giving her Mama all sorts of trouble (well, she’s a Taurus!) I’m so sorry to that that you are having wobbly troubles, I hope you can figure out what it is soon. My DD had something similar a few years back. But you certainly don’t let much stop you, do you! Have a wonderful week, Lindart #36

Hope you are feeling better. I had something like that one time, the doctor said it was labyrinthitis, a middle ear thing. Really felt like being at sea. Happy 12th WOYWW! Better late than never! Elle #12
