WOYWW 618

Hi hi!

It’s Wednesday and time for our weekly desk share with Julia over The Stamping Ground. Tricky one for me this week as I can only use my non-dominant hand / arm.

I was mid-layout when I realised that I was making my tendonitis so much worse by crafting (dagnamit). It’s been going on for a while but getting worse despite getting a ‘pass’ from housework, so I knew I had to immobilise the whole thing, including my pointing / tapping finger. I’m very much NOT ambidextrous so I’m sitting, sulking, and typing very slowly one handed.

The layout is one of the classes from the recent Go Go cyber retreat and it took me hours to get to this point, nothing to do with my hand / arm, all to do with measurements and an inability to cut a straight line. This is even with the power of 3 different rulers, 3 pairs of scissors and 2 trimmers. Indeed… Outrageous incompetence.

Aaaanyway… Here’s the watering can mini book that I was working on a couple of weeks ago.

I worked on the book for a week, took and edited loads of photos, wrote a 1700 word article (you can read it here), and only now realised that I’ve got the date wrong – last year was 2020 – how could I forget!!??

One of my favourite pages using Paige Evans Bloom Street. Chit happens…

Finally, last week’s Throwback Thursday, which came about because of my final article where I’ve made an interactive layout for our 9/11 story. I shared the full tale of that day with another layout from the same set of photos, for a new blog feature. Story Telling Saturday was an idea from another, now closed, blog that I used to love taking part in (except it was a Sunday) and I’m hoping to continue it for the first Saturday in each month – I’d love you to join me.

This page features 9 photos by way of two pull out sections so ideal for those less than perfect shots! We’d got a new camera in Singapore, but still pre-digital, about 5 months into our Round The World trip. It meant we ended up with circular photos from a new fish eye lens and that the incorrect date stamp appeared on most of the pictures. The photos are 18 years old and the layout itself is 10 years old!

I normally get around everyone pretty swiftly on a Wednesday but as well as being incapacitated I also have an in-person funeral (my very elderly aunt) so it might take me longer this week!

As always, stay safe and keep smiling x

The book is very pretty – I hopeyou can fix the date. Hope your arm improves soon, typing one handed is not easy at all! Helen #1

OK so I love the layout, of course, but that mini book is so stinkin’ cute! I LOVE mini books – working on a tag book with a new (well, to me anyway) binding that will be easy and sturdy and cute. Problem is, if I don’t give them away as gifts, where do I store them all!? LOL! The fun is in the making for me so I will carry on….
    Happy WOYWW day!

Morning Lisa-Jane. Oh bless you – I do hope your arm gets better quickly. You are doing incredibly well with just the one – but, yes, two can do it quicker!! I love the look of that little watering can book. Brilliant – what fun that you got the date wrong… this past year has been so upside down, I’m not really surprised.
    Take care. God bless.

Actually, I don’t blame you for missing up the date as 2020 was such a non-year, it’s easy to misplace it, lol!! I adore that little mini book and the Chit Happens made me hoot and spit my coffee out :-D. Hope the tendonitis gets better soon, that’s no fun at all.

The layout is gorgeous and that mini book adorable. To answer your question on my blog – we don’t have a pizza oven – we bought the pizzas from a restaurant that are currently delivering. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless,
    Caro xx

Oh tell me about the hand stuff! I’ve got carpal tunnel in my right hand and sometimes just have to eat with my left it is so annoying. I am wearing my wrist brace nightly at the moment hoping it will help the condition which is rather spasmodic. Adore your little watering can book and yes I often get the date wrong as I am scrapping on “catch-up” all the time! Thanks for the visit BJ#5

Sorry to hear about your arm but I’m impressed with what you’ve done with just one hand. Love the book and the LO.

Oh my, I don’t think I could keep up with all the things that you get up to! You need a day off but then??? You’ll just find something else to join in with! Both booklets/jounals look fabulous, I have a forever freebie watering template on my side bar, why haven’t I thought of turning that into a gardening booklet! Another crafty thing to add to my ever growing to do list! Stay save, rest that hand, but not too much! Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. ((Lyn))

Oh! PS. the white dots on the bunnies…oh yes, I love watching those cute little Lawn Fawn videos, (bit too expensive for me and the tax in USA, so I’m told, would double the price!)are making me even think I should swap my Promakers to Copic, they usually add lines of white on the little creatures and flowers etc, so, I just got out my new white gel pen, and did the same. I used to do it but the gel pen ran out, now back in blogland I can start again ….it’s changed so much, I feel like I know nothing!

Love your watering can mini book and I wouldn’t worry about the date – 2021 is when you made it. Hope your hand gets better – it’s good that you get pass on housework, but not being able to create anything is a bummer! Sorry to hear about your aunt. xx zsuzsa #21

Oh I do hope that immobilising your hand works and you are back crafting a little soon Lisa-Jane. The watering can book is so pretty – even with the wrong year. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

That’s a cute little mini book – such fresh bright colours! What a pain (literally) that your tendonitis is aggravated by your crafting. I’m pushing it myself at the mo as I am Spring Cleaning – trying to do as much as I can with my left hand to avoid aggravating my right wrist too much but it’s way hard!! Explain to me how you got a pass from the housework please!! Have a great week, stay well, stay safe, love n hugs Cindy #16 xx

The watering can book is gorgeous. I know how you must be feeling with the Tendonitis as i have it in my right hand and have to take it easy sometimes as the pain creeps up on you when you least expect it. Mine came about when we first started using computers at work and didn’t have mouse mats. I had the injection in the wrist and I never want it again but as long as I rest it regularly I seem to be able to keep it under control…well most of the time. Sending big hugs and wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x17x

Your watering can book is lovely. Repetitive joint pains are awful when you want to get on with stuff., very frustrating! Hope it’s better soon. Happy WOYWW and have a great week Angela #6

Ooh I love that you made the little book watering can shaped Lisa Jane, and I hope your hand is healing quickly with the not using it. ( I am totally just right handed so, I get that watching my hubs switch hands to do ( every.single.thing) the how handy it would be to be able to be ambidextrous. I love the effect of that background you are building with all the cut away space between the squares. ~Stacy #26

Oh you poor thing, tendinitis is hideous, it just means you have to do nothing which is beyond frustrating. It’s when all the good ideas turn up, and the ‘need’ to do all sorts of stuff you’ve been putting off! You’re a busy scrapbook journalist, loads of articles to enjoy! I like the GoGo LO, you aren’t alone in the straight cutting department, my whole life is on the wonk these days. I do actively avoid anything that actually needs to look straight, just not happening! Saturday stories sounds a grand idea.

Yes that Chit Happens page made me chuckle too – it is a funny word for those budding potatoes isn’t it. I love your little watering can book – so pretty and so clever. I hope that tendonitis improves – I guess rest is the best medicine but so flippin boring! xx Jo

  18. Shoshi on 8 April 2021 at 5:07 pm

Sorry to hear about your tendonitis. It’s really frustrating when health issues prevent you from doing what you want, isn’t it. Your little watering can book is charming!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

Thanks for your return visit, Lisa-Jane. Glad you enjoyed the carrot shark and seeing the Easter egg.

    Have a good weekend.

    Good morning, Lisa-Jane.
Sorry about the tendonitis issues. My typing is currently encumbured… by a 7th generation panther kitty who thinks he MUST cuddle with mom … between me and the keyboard.
Please share more info about the month challenge you hope to take over. I need to scrapbook more and would love to help support/ play along. You can email me KellyH@artlover.com Creative Blessings! Kelly #24
