WOYWW 609

Hi hi

I had such a lovely time popping around to all the desks for last week’s What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday and everyone was so welcoming after my time away. It was good to know that it wasn’t just me who found comfort in the regularity of our weekly snoop! If you want to know more, head over to see Julia at The Stamping Ground. Here’s my desk this week.

I’m supposed to be writing and editing photos (the Eeek! layout on the stand is next up on the blog) but I missed out a step of the process and so I need to go back and do it – on 60 photos. I was so cross with myself that I pushed the computer away in a huff and decided to do some crafting instead. I thought I’d join in with the Scrap The Boys challenge blog this month which will be a first for me – you can see the inspiration on the lap top screen behind. In the spirit of my One Little Word (ACTION) I grabbed the first suitable photos I came across and the first suitable bag of stash and set to work. The bag was actually the very remnants of a kit left over from a Go Go retreat and not really my style (even though I love the layouts I made that weekend), but they are perfect for these silly pictures of my Dad pretending to be starved and uncared for at the end of the first lockdown. I had a couple of big pieces of paper, one full sheet and lots of little die-cuts so the layout sort of controlled itself and became a lot less square than the sketch intended. The scissors that you can see are my scuffing scissors – please don’t judge me, I didn’t realise my old naff ones were in the picture. I have lots of much fancier ones in real life.

Last week I mentioned foam squares and my version of those irritating little blighters so I thought I’d let you see the back of the photos for this layout. Please try not to twitch. I’d love to tell you that they are all the same thickness too but no, they all get slapped on willy-nilly and it all balances itself out in the end…

Finally I thought I would start sharing the previous week’s Instagram #ThrowbackThursday so you actually get to see a finished item on a Wednesday. It probably appeared on my old blog at some point because I think it’s from 2014. I’m just about managing to keep up with sharing on the days I intended but then it has only been about 10 days!

So what have you been up to over the past week? We’d love to see. Or just grab a cuppa and have a nosy around the desks with me.

Stay safe and keep smiling xx

I like the fun foam shapes you use for sticking down photos Lisa-Jane. Hope it doesn’t take long to redo that editing. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #?

Ha, am loving your foam shapes and use of….I have to say that the post about how I use them has generated an awful lot of ‘confessions’ about use and storage. It would greatly bother me that your shapes are different heights and you don’t worry about that, my teeth would itch if I was sitting next to you. From this distance, I applaud you for just getting on with it!! no judgement here over scissors…I didn’t even notice except to clock that you only have one pair on show, unlike the shambles on my desk which necessitates me reaching for a different pair because I can’t find the others! I would get heart sink over the sketch you’ve got on the laptop, I am not good at the block type designs, not least because I can’t do anything without it being wonky! Also a bit super impressed that you can just grab a bag with enough in to do a great LO. Fair to say that my process seems cumbersome and sometimes painful by comparison!! have a great week.

Lovely to see a layout – I love your “foam square” solution! Use what ya got, right? And oh my – GoGo retreats! I found a layout I taught there, dear Lord, must have been 10+ (15??) and it still made me smile – such a wonderful weekend.

Enjoy the editing. I miss out steps all the time but then now it’s only for my blog and who cares? I don’t envy you….

    Happy WOYWW to all!

Morning Lisa Jane. I am super impressed about that one bag which has provided everything you needed! I wouldn’t stand a chance of anything like that happening in my room! It would be one thing from that end and one thing from the other!! Julia does seem to have caused quite a storm over her sticky pads regime, doesn’t she?
    Take care. God bless.

I’ve never seen the foam shapes before they are so sweet. The layout is brilliant. Good luck with getting everything sorted and completed, maybe we’ll see the results next week though if you’re like me something else may well distract you before then Lol! Have a very happy woyww, Angela x16x

Morning! Great desk and nothing wrong with those scissors! Still laughing at all those shapes on the back of the photo, haven’t got around to using mine up this way yet as I’ve been working flat this week but still think it’s a great idea. Hope you sort the photo editing – it is wonderful what we can do these days but sometimes it’s like going down a black hole….. Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, love Cindy xx #19

Well that is certainly one way of using up some foam shapes and making the little blighters have a dual purpose. Love the selection of papers on your desk.
Have a great week and stay safe.

Yes! Love that! ‘Always the Shadow’ I usually take the pictures as I hate having my picture taken. One lady on YouTube sticks bits of old packaging behind her toppers. I think your idea of the foam animals is must better, but knowing they’re still there, even though hidden, might give you the heeby geebies one day! Stay safe!
Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn)) was #19 first thing but might be #20 by now! (it changed last week too)

Always the Shadow is a fantastic LO, I love the colours and patterns and the photo made me smile, just cos that is always me too! The photo of your dad made me hoot, I love hearing your stories about him on FB, he makes me hoot! It’s really lovely to see you back on the desks again, I do enjoy seeing the pretty stuff you work with.

Hi Lisa-Jane, looks like we have more in common other than the two barrelled first name! Thank you for your candidness about your own situation. I have realised mine is probably due to narcissistic behaviours on her part and yes after 50+ years of trying I have finally realised there is no point. I agree it is difficult hearing so many people bemoaning the fact that they can’t see anyone whilst I’m glad that I can’t!! She’s not been able to run the guilt trip of when are we going to visit so hence no contact at all!
Anyway, loving your scrapbook bag of stash and your Eeeek and shadow pages pages. Must check out your blog fully when hubby has fixed my computer, my tablet/phone aren’t great for seeing all the detail or getting the full picture. Love the sticky shapes, those aren’t ALL on one photo surely??? I just put round the edges and in the middle although I tend to not use to much raised stuff on LOs as my albums get to fat!

Your layouts are fab – I love the paper with the yellow flowers on, it’s so pretty. The foam is a good idea but oh my, different thicknesses – I don’t think I could cope with that even if it all works out in the end!!
Hope you have a good week, stay safe and well,

Those little shapes are so cute, I thought they were plastic when I first looked at them.
How handy having everything in the one bag – I am trying to have similar things together on the shelves of my craft room, only trouble is as I progress around I find more things that should have gone on a shelf at the beginning and then it is not large enough.
I see you are a pink person. It’s just not me but when the lady who offered to decorate my craft room whilst her husband was installing a new bathroom for us did it I gave her a free reign. It wouldn’t have been my choice but I must say i quite like it because it is a bright pink. Before I had it all in Rennie Mackintosh style with a huge painting I did on that wall.
    Hugs, Neet xx

I’m always doing things like that and having to go back and add a step numerous times that could have been done only once if I’d just thought about it at the time… Your foam shapes are fun. You’ve certainly got a busy desk there, with lots going on.

Thank you for your visit. Tesco and condoms lol lol! Your example certainly was a weird substitution! The Persian Tiles throw is going to have to wait a while because once I’ve finished the kitty one, I really must complete my purple circles jumper or it will be languishing in my knitting bag for yet another year! In the meantime I shall just use my quilt as a throw. Our kitties definitely have to get off the chair if I want to sit down – it’s only my hubby who’s such a softie!

    Happy WOYWW,

good morning Lisa Jane, I have not scrapped in so long that I am mildy tempted some days to pick it up again but, so far it has not happened. I did grin over your arrangement of foam shapes. 🙂 (and the shadow page, I have deliberately taken some shots like that for fun) ~Stacy #30

  18. Chana Malkah on 3 February 2021 at 7:12 pm

Your page is amazing! I love looking at scrapbook pages! I tried it once but I guess it is just too much real estate! I am definitely a card maker and not a scrapbooker!

You definitely have a great eye for composition and detail!

Always the shadow is a great layout. How many of those foamy shapes do you have? You must use up quite a few for each photograph. Have a great week Angela #17

Oh your scrapbook layouts are so beautiful and I love what you used for your foam adhesive. I’ve seen others do something similar but I never tried that. LOL. Thanks for your earlier visit to my blog and see you next week! Dorlene #31

  23. Morti on 4 February 2021 at 9:50 am

LOL when you mentioned the coloured foam shapes last week I didn’t think too much about it, and now seeing them this week I’m like…”wait…what??? How?” So, do ‘splain some more, good lady – how on earth are you in possession of sticky foam pads that are random shapes like that?

Love the always the shadow page – so true of many of us.

You asked about Pattern Keeper. It’s mostly designed for PDF patterns, especially full coverage ones like from Heaven & Earth Designs (HAED) and similar companies. You can scan a regular pattern in but those don’t have the full functionality. Hope that helps but feel free to ask questions (or join one of the FB Stitching groups where more experienced folk can help).

Thank you for the visit to my page Lisa-Jane! I love teal too – but also orange! I always seem to run out of the orange-y coloured paints.
The ‘always the shadow’ layout really made me smile! And I am amazed at the foam bits!!
    Happy WOYWW!
    Stay safe and keep well!
I am hoping to visit everyone this week – unfortunately last week I just couldn’t make it…

Lisa Jane, I LOVE the ingenious idea of using those foam shapes!! LOL Too funny! they don’t tilt my wheel either, so I would probably do just the same with them! LOL Love your layouts. I am not a scrapper, but I love your color choices for the layouts I can see. I am not a “bright” color person, so those really speak to me! Your dad sounds like he is a ham!! My dad was the same way! It made me miss him, with a smile, when I read that! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. By the way, the 10 man tent is AWESOME! It’s not really as big as you think. Thanks for the encouraging words on my crafts! Take care and stay safe! Felicia #28
