Happy Wednesday everyone! I’m excited that it is Wednesday, partly because it means we get to share our desks over at The Stamping Ground, but also because I am finally heading to the Welsh house tomorrow! I’ll be holed up in a little cottage near the sea in Newport, Pembrokeshire, so I can go walking and just be on my own and have a little retreat. I just need to pack a small craft bag… easier said than done.

But onto my desk! Don’t wince at the layout, it’s a half done affair from a Shimelle class many years ago and I was deciding how to finish it. The one at the back is about the Death Railway in Thailand and the bridge over the River Kwai and I’m sort of okay with that one, but not the front one.

It’s not how I scrap now so I was fighting with it in my head. I generally mount my photos now, at least once, and I almost never use coloured cardstock. I can’t actually remember when I started this layout but as you can see some of the glue has totally disappeared. Some parts were stuck fast (the bits I wanted to change…) and other bits were falling off. Eventually, late last night, I pulled / cut it all apart.

I finally finished my cutting and sorting of stickers and die cuts but it took me WAY longer than I anticipated. I now have a lot more than I realised. I thought they would fit easily into these little boxes that I am reusing (post boxes from a Bramble Fox subscription) but apparently not. The blue box that goes in the gap in the basket is held together with an elastic band…

Some bits were so tiny that I decided to make another box of the weeny sprinkle type embellishments so I had to re-sort everything. I was so pleased when I had finished! Each cavity was full to the brim.

Then this happened…. The photo above was what I rescued from the photo below. I now have another box of the jumbled mess on the floor that needs to be re-re-sorted.

I think I’ll leave that for another day… I love how one particular sticker, saying “Smile” has found it’s way out from the group and drawn attention to itself.

So what’s on your workdesk this Wednesday? I’m going to have a peruse and then pack my ‘little’ craft bag for my trip. Put the kettle on, I’m on my way! x

A little getaway sounds brilliant. You are very lucky. We are going to borrow my sister’s caravan in Kendal for a few days next month, just a change of scenery is exciting.
There would’ve been a lot of naughty words if I’d dropped that box, you are very restrained. It’s a good way of storing bits like that though, I have them in boxes all over and forget them when I’m scrapping.
Good look with the reworked page.

You’ve chosen the right time to come because the weather is picking up nicely from Friday onwards! I shall wave back at you lovely gal, wish we could just meet up for a coffee but it ain’t going to happen as we’re still being cautious for G’s sake. Hope you have a happy and peaceful time in Newport, gorgeous little place.
I would have turned the air blue if that box had tipped up in my house! How infuriating and ironic that the word Smile made its presence known, that’s the universe taking the mick there…..

How many times that happens to me usually because I’ve too much stuff that I should have put away. I try to be polite but I’m sure the boxes do it deliberately to annoy me. Have a lovely and productive WOYWW, Angela x15x

Oh Lisa, I feel for you. How annoying that must have been to tip the box up. It would have stayed there had it been mine, I would have lost the heart to touch it again.
Never mind, now you are off to sanctuary, your little home near the sea. It will be wonderful and I am sure you will have things packed in no time to occupy the night times when you cannot go out walking. Nothing sounds nicer than a brisk walk along a sea front to me. Enjoy!

Fab layouts – I do love the bright red background – it’s a difficult colour to work with I find, but both you and Julia today have used it beautifully!
Oh the frustration of dropping that box – and how funny that the ‘smile’ one popped up – I am wondering if you did – smile that is!
Hope you have a good week

Oh isn’t that typical – all nicely sorted the whoosh – back to square one! I love your layouts and the colours are bright and cheery – perfect. xx Jo

Hi Lisa, oh I do feel for you after all that sorting! And thats a very cheeky little smile label! I did something similar once, sorted all my brads/eyelets by colour into little pots- I think it was meant for nail art stuff, so not exactly the tightest fitting lids- then promptly dropped it on the floor! I had no idea eyelets could travel so far, lol.Stay safe, have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #5 X

Yes I did that yesterday – I did manage to pick them all up after i turned the air blue! Lovely Scrapbook page . Sorry I am a little late – Have a fab week Soojay #19

Chuffed for you that Wales is available to you now…bet your crafting kit takes up more of the car than any overnight bag! Never let it be said that we don’t time travel when we scrapbook, but your leap from Burma and the death railway to a beach scene with the fam-a-lam is a doozie!! I know what you mean about unmounted photos and strips of papers starting on plain. I did a “its all about Me’ class with Shimelle years ago and really enjoyed it, but don’t scrap like that at all, it feels counter intuitive and I think pulling it apart to start again would have been where I ended up too – just so that you stop fighting the urge to fight!!
Have a marvellous stay in Newport, let us know you’re doing OK, huh.

I envy you getting away for a while and hope Jan is right with the weather picking up….. so sorry that all your organising went to pot! what a pain. Hope you manage to pack your “small” crafting bag!! ha ha… Helen #2

Hi Lisa. Oh my! What a bother – now it all needs sorting again – but yes, I ove the fact of the word “smile” separated from the rest of the bits!! I don’t suppose that’s what you felt like doing at the time… Have a great time with your “little” craft bag here in Wales. Glorious part of the world – I love Pembrokeshire.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

Somewhat ironic that a “smile” sticker should emerge from that catastrophe, Lisa-Jane! I think the language Chez-Shosh would have been pretty unrestrained had that happened to me! Great photo though!! Everything else looks incredibly well organised, and it’s well worth taking the time to sort everything through so you can find things. I’m gradually filing away spare die-cuts in the hope that it will make life easier, too. Have fun in the Welsh house!

Thank you for visiting. I agree about the ferns – I love how they start out all tightly curled up, and gradually unroll. They are fascinating. Yes, I think the news is good on the bladder front – I hope I will notice some progress soon. I am very impressed that they do think they can help, when I thought nothing could be done.

    Happy WOYWW,

That’s the sort of thing that always happens to me but it never falls so neatly as yours. Funny how we tend to change how we present things over the years, we crafter’s all find our comfy spot with designing.
Have a super safe time away with your little craft bag & happy woyww Tracey #12

Ouch, I feel your pain at the spill Lisa-Jane. Hope you manage to pack all the crafty stuff you need to retreat to Newport now you are allowed to. Stay safe and happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #1

Oh my life the fallen box!!!!! Just the “sort” of thing to happen to me!
I like your scrap page, love all the layers, I always have far too many photos to layer up the paper like that.

  16. Susan Renshaw on 9 July 2020 at 11:26 am

I once had a similar bit of a disaster with a divided box of beads and sequins… took me a long while to resort… good luck!
Hope you end up happy with the layouts – and enjoy your stay in Newport…
    Happy Crafting!

Oh my goodness! Sometimes you just want to cry when that happens (box on floor), and it always seem the bits you want to keep are stuck fast and you have to do some creative tearing/cutting. You see it happens to us all! Did you smile when you saw that word by itself? I keep putting off using my Geliplate, slight lack of confidence I think, hugs Angela #25
