It’s time for our Wednesday snoop with Julia over at The Stamping Ground and this week I have actually been crafting for myself.
This past weekend I should have been on a scrapbook retreat with Go Go Getaway but of course, we had to do it on line instead. This lovely rainbow shaker was part of one of the classes that I didn’t get to finish over the weekend because I kept messing the darn thing up. I forgot to stick the acetate down before I put the foam pads on. Then, rather than starting over, I thought I could get away with sticking the acetate on the front and just putting the hand cut outer edge on to hide the glue (I steadfastly did NOT want to get my Cameo out again). But of course all the carefully placed sequins have sneaked under the boughs and merged a bit in their colours. I’m going to cut another full one and place it on the top to see if it hides the blur enough but if not I shall have to start again. *sigh
This weekend saw a lot of scrapping and a lot of soul searching and some big decisions were made. I now need to put them into action and that requires some big girl pants and a deep breath. This card was made for me by one of my lovely team a few weeks ago when things were starting to ‘wobble’. The sentiment is very much needed but isn’t it a beautiful card?! It’s made with that wonderful technique of stacking the same die cut / cut file up several times, backfilling the apertures once with coloured cardstock and then filling in the holes with Glossy Accents. Fiddly, but I think it’s worth it.
With any luck I will be back next week with another snoop. Till then, you will find me coffee in hand, sequins on face, gadding about the desks of the other lovely crafters who share their workspace with us on Wednesdays.

The card sounds lovely Lisa-Jane, but there doesn’t appear to be a picture of it. Hope you manage to save the sequin rainbow. I hadn’t noticed any seepage until you mentioned it. Hope your decision can be carried through successfully. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #17
Hi Lisa Jane. I like your rainbow – I hadn’t noticed anything amiss at all… I can’t see the picture of the card – but it sounds incredibly time consuming and lovely. Take care as you make big decisions. Hard to make decisions at this time.

We are our own worst critics – I’m sure you gained a few wrinkles making that rainbow but all I see is sparkly goodness and I think it’s beautiful!! Couldn’t see the card but how lovely that you have thoughtful friends like that xx

Hi Lisa Jane, that is indeed a lovely card, I have seen JM do that technique, it’s very effective. I so feel your pain over the shaker card, I’ve done the same thing myself! Well if the sequins don’t end up down your bra, you’re really winning!! Sorry to be late, bet you’ve solved the rainbow issue by now. I have to say, if it were me, it would have been in the bin, with tears and swear words. Admirable work there and…I bet another cut file on top will do it, smarty pants. I hope the deep breath and the decisions are all working in your favour Missus.
Your rainbow and especially the card, are absolutely stunning. I love the stacked die-cut look and the glossy accents makes it look like stained glass. Fabulous!

Thank you for visiting, Lisa-Jane, and I was fascinated to read your experiences with the Robert Welch knives, especially that your young son had a chef’s knife for his birthday, and not only that, but knowing exactly what he wanted! It is so great to hear of kids being encouraged in this way, and for a 13-year-old being proficient enough in the kitchen to master using a chef’s knife is amazing. I have just looked at the “about us” page on your site and can see that the involvement with the family extends to crafting as well as cooking! It’s so lovely to hear about this. I am sure that the kids will go far! Very well done indeed.
Tesco has frozen pomegranate seeds: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/294567271 I need to order some of these on my next list for delivery because surprisingly, Sainsbury’s didn’t have any when my hubby went shopping for me this week. They usually have things when Tesco doesn’t! I use a lot of frozen blueberries because I make an oatmeal/chia seed breakfast with them in it – a Mason jar full lasts me 4 days. It’s really delicious!

Oh, I do like the card, does sound fiddly, but looks lovely. The rainbow is very glittery, can’t see anything wrong with it.
