UK Scrap Addicts – Vertical Design
This month over at UK Scrap Addicts we are focusing on designs that have a vertical placement and there have been some wonderful examples from the team already. Vertical designs are not something I usually do but I absolutely love them and I will definitely be returning to this placement idea!

I’ve seen this particular idea a couple of times on the Cocoa Vanilla page and I had been hoarding a strip of this rainbow paper from the Happiness collection, and just stroking and admiring it so it was a good time to put it to use.

The strip of paper I had was about 4-5 inches wide x 12 inches tall but I wanted to overlap the pieces so I needed more than a full height piece. I tore the rainbow strip into pieces and laid them out to see how much more I needed. I used a left over border piece from a previously gutted piece of paper from the same collection and then used the more solid coloured pieces from the branding strips to spread among the torn pieces.

I had previously spent some time fussy cutting the butterflies from another piece from the collection. With 2 children doing a lot of activities, and a family who spend a lot of time in hospitals, I try and use my “waiting time” to do something useful. Sometimes I work on designs but sometimes it’s not practical or I’m chatting to people and it feels rude to be on a screen, so I tend to do my fussy cutting then.

With the papers and strips stuck down and the butterflies spread around the matching colours, I added in some labels from Simple Stories and some heart die cuts from the Happiness ephemera pack. The Stay Colourful die cut was perfect for this layout of me being very silly with some Snapchat filters. Finally I spread around some coordinating enamel shapes and dots to finish off this fun and colourful layout.
I love the way this turned out and I hope you give vertical designs and go and show us so we can see too!
