Tracy Service – Elsie’s First Tree
Hey lovely crafter, it’s Tracy here with my first Christmassy project, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas! For this page I’ve used the Paige Evans cut file “Christmas Star Background” which is available pre-cut in black, white or cream.
I’ve backed the stars with silver paper, my first thought was to do a white on white page, which I think would look lovely but I wanted to get my paints out too!! I’ve used 3 shades of pink to build up my background using sequin waste, a stencil and a piece of gauze that’s came from the bottom of a bonsai pots to keep the soil in !!! Mixed media with found-objects for the win! Next I used modelling paste through the gauze on top of the pinks to create some texture. I love the effect it gives!
I made 5 strings of beads and sequins in heart and star shapes on thin silver thread and placed those in between the strips of stars in the cut file. The set comes with 5 of the strips but I’ve only used 3 here so I could easily use the others on another layout or even perhaps a couple of cards.
I cut the centre from a piece of 12×12 pink patterned paper from the ‘Snow Cool’ collection from Hobbycraft and I’ve used the central piece to back my photos. Then I’ve layered my white background cardstock onto the border piece to bring the whole layout together. The alphabet was white glitter that I’ve coloured with a paint pen.
Although it is a Christmas layout with a Christmas cut file, I think the stars could definitely work for other twinkly themes too!
With love and colour
