Rebecca Birch – Gorgeous Bean – Too Many Hearts cut file
Hello everyone! My Name is Rebecca and I’m here to share a layout! I leapt at the chance to be a guest designer for Pretty My Page, because I have purchased and used several of the cut files in the past and have always really enjoyed the results.

It was coming up to Valentine’s Day (it’s actually Valentine’s today as I’m writing this!) and I was obviously feeling inspired by all things hearts and love because the first file I’ve chosen to work with is the ‘Too many hearts’ cut file. (Pre-cut available here).
I had a few ideas for this design, but my favourite idea was to paint my own red-pink ombre effect background piece & prop the cut file over the top using foam to give the cut file dimension.

I made the ombre background by mixing 3 shades of watercolour- a deep red, a lighter red & a pale pink. I them applied these in soft stripes onto watercolour paper & blended them together with water to get a soft gradient of colour & then I left this piece to dry overnight. I use Ganasi Tambi Kuretake watercolours as they’re fantastic quality.
The photograph I chose to scrap was taken a few years ago just before taking my little boy to a Valentine themed baby sensory class, & he was wearing a little red jumper. I though this would tie in perfectly with theme of the heart design & my chosen colour scheme.

I had no issues at all cutting this file on my (now slightly elderly) scan n cut machine & I’ve kept all of the cut heart pieces to use as embellishments in other projects too!
I completed the project using flowers & alphas from the Paige Evans Truly Grateful collection & some perspectives from Bramble Fox. The title was an easy one as my little boy’s nickname is Bean, so we are always calling him The Gorgeous Bean.

I really like how the finished project came out, & I love the dimension given by using foam pads underneath the whole heart cut file. I also love how the limited colour palette really lets the background shine!

I’ll be back with some more projects for Pretty my Page but if you’d like to follow me on instagram, my handle is @scrap_paper_uk. Bye everyone!
