Laura Rumble – It wouldn’t be Christmas without…
14 December 2018//
Hi, Laura here with my next December share.
We’re a little obsessed with poinsettias in our house. We have big and small, traditional red and ones that have been bred with fancy colours. So I know I wanted to use this cutfile… bizarrely I have no photos printed of poinsettias so I’ve made do with our other Christmas favourite- novelty socks!

I cut the file in two sizes on plain white cardstock. I marked where the large flower would sit with watercolour pencils. Using watercolour pencil is great because it dissolves and disappears when I add paint on top. I want the colour to show when I put the cut file back on top so I let the paint flow out a little further than the cut file edge.

I painted the cut files with a sparkly gold paint – two coats to give a good bold colour.
I’ve added a few layers of red vellum behind my photo and added a long title. I’m having a little competition with myself to make my titles more interesting. I’ve used three sets of alpha stickers to achieve it – a gold glitter set from Heidi Swapp, a black puffy alpha from Freckled Fawn and some red tiles from Pretty Little Studio.

I happened to have a set of Jillibean olive green self-adhesive sequins on my desk that perfectly matched the green paint I mixed so I finished off with a few sprinkled across the layout.
