Karen Moss – Guest Designer – Take Me To Paradise – Harlequin cut file

Hello, Karen here with my second project for Lisa-Jane at Pretty My Page and this time I have chosen Harlequin Mesh (pre-cut here) as the file to work with. Again, I am going to change the file a little so that I can use Silhouette Sketch Pens to draw the design.

I wanted to make this file look as though it had been stitched – a monumental task if I was going to use a needle and thread. It was very easy to achieve this effect, I simply changed the solid line to a dotted line in the line menu, replaced my blade with a pink sketch pen and away my Silhouette went merrily drawing little stitches.

To add interest to my page I cut diamonds from patterned paper and added them to the sketched design, where the solid diamonds were on the design, using foam pads.

I arranged my embellishments and photos on the page, this was easy as I could align them with the design, tucking some underneath the patterned paper diamonds and ‘hooking’ some over the top. I also added a little banner to the centre of my page and used a phrase from the patterned paper as my title.

To finish I cut some phrases from patterned paper and dotted them around the page.

I hope I have inspired you to try this easy way to convert a cut file into a faux stitched file.

Karen x
