Karen Moss Guest Designer – Oh Happy Day – Bed of Roses Cut file

Hello, Karen here with my final project as guest designer for Lisa-Jane at Pretty My Page and this time I have chosen Bed of Roses which is available as a digital download, as a pre-cut file.  This time I didn’t do anything to change the file I only used a Silhouette Pen Holder and a permanent pen as the Silhouette Sketch Pens are not waterproof.

I simply replaced the blade with the pen and pen holder, changed the settings from cut to sketch and my Silhouette did its stuff drawing the roses onto a piece of Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Foundation Paper.  I used this as it is designed to take a lot of water and not buckle.  Initially I used a fine point Sharpie but that gave me too heavy a line and so changed to a ball point pen, checking it was waterproof first. I then spent a relaxing evening painting my roses with shimmery watercolour paints.  

Once I had finished, I used papers and stickers from Carta Bella Happy Day collection. 

Fortunately, I had some left-over yellow roses that I had stamped for another project and these blended perfectly with my background and papers.

 All of the pieces of paper and tags were mounted on white card, leaving a small border to help them stand out from the rose background.

I hope, with my four projects,  I have given you some ideas of how to use cut files in an alternative way.
