Karen Moss – Greetings Cards with the Sketch Pens – Butterfly Side Mesh Cut File

Hello Karen here, with my next Pretty My Page project. This one uses Butterfly Side Mesh, used in three different ways for cards. Now, I am not usually a card maker but when I saw this design, I was inspired to make three simple and quick to make cards. All my cards are 5in square so they can be made using a Cameo or a Portrait.

For my first card I resized the design and used a sketch pen for the outer line and greeting, then I cut the internal sections of the butterflies. Finally, I added a piece of patterned paper to back fill the cut sections.

On my second card I placed the Butterfly Side Mesh at the right edge of my card, I used a sketch pen for the left border of the butterflies and added a faux stitched pen border by changing a solid line to a dotted line. Once I had cut the card, I backed the butterflies with a piece of vellum for stability.

As I liked the vellum backed butterflies so much, I decided to make a ‘white on white’ card. For this I resized the Butterfly Side Mesh design to fit diagonally across my card and cut it out. I then backed it with vellum and then used foam pads, along the centre of the design, to raise it from the card. All that was needed to finish this card was to cut ‘Thank You’ from white card and add to the top left and bottom right.

I hope I have encouraged you to give pens a try, if not perhaps my next project will.

Karen x
