Crop In The Country – Get it!
Today I’m sharing the third and final layout that I designed for the Crop In The Country retreat.

I was inspired by the little birds in the collection and decided to create a large bird as the main feature of the layout. I had an idea to create a paper pieced bird that people could stitch around but it went a bit wrong and of course I have to be mindful that there will be 75 people recreating this layout so it has to work!

In the end I decided to pop up the paper pieced bird up onto foam and once I had the outside elements in place I was able to stitch the legs. I used the green border that I had saved from one of the previous layouts and added some “grounding” with a torn edge of brown.

I mounted my photo and scattered around the stickers that I had set aside to use on this layout. Creating 3 simultaneous layouts might have been totally mad but it allowed me to get the absolute most out of the supplies and share the stickers out so that the colours and themes were best placed.

I’ve really loved the 2 retreats I’ve done for CITC and working in reverse with an idea and selecting supplies around that and I’m looking forward to designing more classes for them again for next September.
If you’ve been on any of the retreats and completed any of the classes I’d love you to tag me so I can see your take on it!
