Claire Murphy – Santa! I know him!

I love stitching on my scrapbook pages. It’s one of those tasks that takes a while to complete but the end result is often amazing. I knew that I wanted to stitch this “Christmas Tree Scalloped” cut file from Paige Taylor-Evans as soon as I saw it. Any of the pre-cut designs in the Pretty My Page shop can be supplied in a stitching format.

The holes in the stitch files are like little slits instead of round holes so I used a pokey tool to pierce a slightly bigger and easier to see hole. I only needed to do this on every other hole as I only wanted to stitch every other one. I used a simple backstitch to go all the way around the tree in a green thread. On the internal stitching I used a pink colour that I knew would match in with the paper pad that I was going to use. I then stitched the star in yellow (the closest colour I had to gold) and even added some brown thread for the trunk of the tree.

This wasn’t the original layout that I created. I had a little accident with some hot chocolate (luckily I managed to save the tree from getting it!). I decided to save all the hard work I had done and cut around the tree, leaving about a quarter of an inch. I then layered this onto 2 different patterned papers……I actually prefer the look of this against the patterned paper so I would call it a happy accident?!

I adhered the tree onto some double sided foam to give it some dimension and committed this to the middle of my layout. Next onto the embellishing. I added in a few chipboard pieces and has these just poking out either side of the tree. A fairly simple easy and quick title using the chipboard letters from the same collection and hey presto…..layout complete. And I used pink on a boy layout?! Awesome!
