Birthday Girl – UKSA scraplift challenge for iNSD20
How are you enjoying all the challenges and scrappy inspiration for iNSD so far? Over on UK Scrap Addicts we are having a scraplifting challenge where you can use a layout by any member of the team to inspire you to create your own version. You can combine this inspiration with any of the many other challenges around at this time.

I’ve always loved Amy Kattenbelt’s style and I’ve wanted to recreate her rainbow layout for a long while so this was a perfect opportunity. She made it looks so easy…

I started by choosing colours to match my photos / papers (Simple Stories Let’s Party) and tried to copy how Amy had created little patches across her page but I think my paint was too thick so I didn’t get the lovely layering that she did. Then I grabbed some stamps and went over the top with some of them and it looked better.

I mounted the whole sheet onto a black border and double mounted the photo, also with some black, to make it stand out from the colourful background.

I punched stars from the papers to extend the paint splodges and then added a few enamel dots and cut apart from the collection.

Although I’m not totally happy with the results, I definitely want to try this technique again and I did paint some other bright backgrounds at the same time so you’ll see those coming soon too!
